Post 8: English language challenges

Hello everyone, this is my last post, I hope this is interesting to read and have fun.

In this post I will talk about my English teaching. I really liked the English classes at the university, the different activities in the classes and the evaluations make each course much more interesting than the English classes at school. I like that there are few hours of classes in the week since it encourages us to go to classes and not get bored for many hours. I like that teachers encourage you to participate and not be afraid of making mistakes or not knowing.

Blogs are a good way to practice vocabulary and grammar, requiring us to learn new words every week in order to express the ideas of each week. I like that they are different topics every week since it requires us to use or turn on words that we use little. It is good that they give us class time to develop this activity, since it takes a long time, sometimes it takes me more than an hour to finish each week's post.

I need to improve my hearing, many times I do not understand when they speak to me, the listening tests are the most difficult and I always have the worst mark. To improve I like to listen to music in english, to watch  movies in english and without subtitles and also the last few weeks I like to listen to podcasts in english.

Changes to my study programme

 Hello everyone, this is my seventh post and and I will talk about the changes I would like to make to my study program. first tell them that I study architecture in Fau, Universidad de Chile, this career lasts 5 and a half years and and has 4 lines of education: urbanism, workshop, structure and history. The first thing I would change is more field trips, visiting buildings, touring the city and practicing during the first years. I would also like you to add classes of digital programs in study programme. The workload and length of studies also is a problem in my career, to solve this I think it is necessary for teachers to stimulate work in classes. 

The faculty facilities, buildings and infrastructure are not good, there is less and less space, due to the increase in students, there are also not the classrooms necessary for practical activities like workshops, computer rooms and other prototype machines. There is also no space for students to rest or enough for basic needs like eating or going to the bathroom.

The use of technology is insufficient, mainly due to having an outdated study programme. I think the study programme should always be in discussion, to improve it, change it, renew it, but adapt it to the new times, technologies and demands.

Post 6: Time travel to the future

 If I had the technology to travel to the future, I would go to the year 2100, because I would like to see how humanity has developed in a few more generations. I would like to see if we solve important things in the world such as climate change, inequality between countries or improvement of social conditions. I believe that the best things we can do from now on is to combat climate change, with science and technology, while continuing to develop. for that it is important that our politicians work together. therefore I would like to travel to the future to find out if we won the war on climate change.

I would like to see how cities that today are poor and with little technology, in the future, thanks to development, will become good places for their inhabitants. I would also like to see the technology developed in the space race, I hope we can travel it as we travel our planet, and I would also like to know about extraterrestrial life.

I would like to live a few years in the future to learn from its development and then return to the present to apply what I have learned and solve the main problems of today.

I hope a machine is developed to travel in time, but hopefully that does not bring us consequences as seen in the movies.

Post 5: My future job

 I am architecture student, but I do not want to be an typical architecture that worked in a office designed, I also want to be a teacher in a architecture school, I have always liked to teaching, helping my classmates or do collaborative work in the university. I would like to travela lot with mis students, to teach in the ground, touring the city and designing with the characyeristics of each place. But if I have a architecture office also I would like to travel designing around the world.  The salary is very importante, man does not live by love alone, and the years of sacrifice must have fruit. Therefore I hope have a salary acording to my work, that allows me to live well. 

In this moment I'm in the middle of my career, I have had to take specialization elective courses, the courses that I have had are about theory and criticism of architecture, but also I have had to take specialization elective courses of sustainability. I think it is important to design with a perspective of caring for our environment.

If I want to be a teacher, a good way to start preparing is by being a teacher's assistant while I'm in my degree. that is why when we return to class I will ask some teachers to include me in their teaching team, as I already did before the pandemic.

Pandemic and study

These two years of online university in  pandemic have been very boring. The worst thing is not being able to meet my friends. Being in front of the computer all day is exhausting and monotonous. But when it was in person, the university entertained me, because we had field trips, manual homeworks and joint work.

The relationship with my colleagues is good, I have met fellow students with whom I have never shared before, due to the large number of group work that we have had these semesters. the relationship with my teachers has not been so good, since it is difficult to communicate through a screen.

the study place in my house is quiet, I have a space just for me and with a good connection, maybe I need a larger desk and a shelf to organize my books and notebooks.

The advantages of this modality is to have more free time, because time is not wasted traveling or getting up early. but the disadvantages are the little relationship with my classmates and the loss of moments of university life.

I hope that we quickly return to face-to-face classes, many universities have already done it, I don't understand why we haven't yet.

Music

Hi everyone! this week I will tell you about the music and my musical tastes. The music is an art that allows to express feelings, that is why we can find many kinds of music for each feelings. When  I am happy I like listen pop, electro and reggaeton. when I am sad I like listen alternative rock or reggae, when i would like to be relaxed I listen blues or jazz, but my favorite kind of mussic is R&B, this kind of music I listen in anytime. My favorite musician is Aderson .Paak, he is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, drummer, and producer. And in his songs he mixes musical styles like R&B, Hip hop, Funk and soul. This artist is not a very famous in this moment but in this year He formed a band with other musician very famous, Bruno Mars, and I think that together they will be a success. My favorite song of my favorite artist is "Tints" but my favorite song of life is "That's life" of Frank Sinatra. 

          

The best holidays ever

My best holidays ever were in 2020 before pademic, in january I went with my friends to Bolivia, we stayed in this country for 10 days and we did many activities in each city, for example in Uyuni we went to salar de Uyuni, a big and beautiful white desert, then we went to Sucre a city near the jungle and acording  to the people the capital of the Bolivia. Also we went to La Paz the politic capital where is the presidential house, there we ate a lot of typical food. Finally we stayed in Copacabana a city in riverside of Lago Titicaca and we went in boat  to la isla de la luna and  la isla del sol two little islands of Inca culture. The Lago titicaca  is the highest lake on the planet. Copacaba is the most important city for tourism to Lago titicaca and  there I knew  people of many countries of world . Those were the best holidays because I knew many places and persons, and because it was the first trip without my family.
